Lanier Yak 54 - 2008/04/26 18:26 Hi, guys. My first giant scale/gasser project is going to be the Lanier Yak 54, 87" span, 16-18 pounds advertised weight, with engine range of 50 to 80 cc. I understand that Lanier models are usually heavier than advertised, so this may actually be more of an 80 cc class airplane. I am trying to learn 3D, so I want to keep it light. Some say the DA-50 is not enough power, more guys leaning toward engines like the ZDZ-80. I was thinking of trying the DA-85, but this might be overdoing it. As far as servos, I know I need high torque servos. But not sure if digitals are worth the expense since I don't compete and I'm just learning 3D. The number of choices of servos out there is kind of overwhelming for me.
Can anyone give me some suggestions as to what engine, and which control surface servos might be a good combination for this plane? What servos would give the best bang for the buck? Thanks.
