Re:Micro Heli Becomes Kiowa Warrior - 2007/02/19 19:02 Once all the paint is dry, you can inspect your work. Allow proper time for the paint to cure to full strength before applying glues, as sometimes they can react with the fresh paint. Always use test strips if you are unsure.

Once the windows have been trimmed for the canopy, I used the Canopy Glue. This is also pretty much the same as Tacky Glue from a craft store. Goes on nice and white so you can see your coverage, but will dry clear and slightly pliable. Great for all applications of canopies, even to monokote!

Re:Micro Heli Becomes Kiowa Warrior - 2007/02/19 19:04 Plan on what you are going to see inside those clear windows. The Esky 4-in-1 is a nice bright orange,... which I decided to paint flat black to hide it inside. Double check all your components and travels at this time, because you'll be closing them in with the body shortly.

Re:Micro Heli Becomes Kiowa Warrior - 2007/02/22 19:30 Once the electronics are checked out and the linkages are double checked,.. time to fit the painted body onto the airframe. Test fit slowly, watching the main gear clearance and mounting points. Trim as necessary around the skid rails, and the fit takes shape. A slow fitting process will give nice clean results. Don't overcut to early,.. make small trims here and there, test fit, and repeat.

Re:Micro Heli Becomes Kiowa Warrior - 2007/02/22 19:32 Hmm,... Weapons time.

Time to fit up some weapons and the mounting rail. Using some 3/16" diameter plastic tubing and a lighter, you can slowly heat each corner and soften the plastic. Warm the plastic till it sags, and then make the bend to the proper shape. Place over the template lines while the plastic cools and the joint hardens. Repeat for each corner, and you'll have the finished profile.

Re:Micro Heli Becomes Kiowa Warrior - 2007/02/24 13:10 After building some weapons from wood dowels and cardboard tube, you start to get the image of a gunship!
