Ziroli Corsair Scratch Build - 2006/12/29 13:31 I will continue my pictoral monologue of my Ziroli Corsair build here . Since the December meeting (2 year anniversary of build) I have started planking the top of the wing and turtle deck of the Fuselage. I have hinged the rudder, run the control rod and mounted the a fixed tail wheel. I am now sanding the wing saddle to align the wing with the Stabilizer. On initial fit the right wing tip was 3 inches higher than the left . Sounds like allot but when I stood back and looked the gull wing made it look OK(it is 97 inch long) the laser alignment tool proved otherwise, it didn't take much sanding to get it within a 1/2 inch . I haven't gotten back to it in a couple days, but should line things up this weekend. Next i will be hinging the elevator and mounting the control rod. The elevator is so far back that I need a longer 4-40 rod and sleeve. I bought the 3 foot version, I will have to see if they make a longer rod or if I have to put a soldered coupling in it somewhere.

Some pictures are attached.

Re:Ziroli Corsair Scratch Build - "Laser" - 2006/12/31 13:26 Attached is a photo of the vertical tail and stabilizer with the red cross hairs of the laser alignment tool. A very handy tool for only about 40 bucks.

Re:Ziroli Corsair Scratch Build - Wing - 2006/12/31 13:32 OK, I'm lining up the wing in the saddle using the "Laser". Should be perfect by tonight.

Re:Ziroli Corsair Scratch Build - Tail Wheel - 2006/12/31 13:46 Added the Rudder and tail wheel along with the control rod. Will be connecting the control rod to the rudder post and then spring loading the tail wheel to the rudder control arm. I'm looking for the right springs now. Gosh I love hardware stores Kev.
