Re:Winter 2007 - PBF - 2007/02/02 15:53 PS,
I started this with a .25 FX,
But I liked it better with an old 40 size engine. More guts with a bigger prop and less rpm. It doesn't take much to get it off the ground.

Re:Winter 2007 - PBF - 2007/02/02 15:59 The gas version is 24 x 24 with 4 inch elevons. I'm going to try 20 x 20 in bluecore with 2 inch elevons. If memory serves me correctly, the gas PBF rolled like a pinwheel in a 20 mph wind. If it looks too big, I'll just get out the exacto and cut some off.

You need a calm day to fly a PBF, or else your in for an exciting flight.

Re:Winter 2007 - PBF - 2007/02/03 08:17 I didn't like the hand launch thing myself. Decided to go the nVTOfL (near Vertical TakeOff & flop Landing)

Very interested in seeing an electric version of this in person. If you follow the threads above, there are posts about in the RCU forum.

Re:Winter 2007 - Ski's - 2007/02/04 10:59 Since there is snow on the ground, I thought these might be fun.

Re:Winter 2007 - Mongrel - 2007/02/06 13:58 Got the main components framed out and waiting for the SIG Lite Ply to arrive for the fuse sides. Doing the fuse the same way as the Mutt with two sheets of (balsa/ply) with a core of BlueCor sandwiched in between and a 6sheet ply for the engine support. Using thin layer of Gorilla glue to hold it all together. Am concerned that the that the total weight will exceed the 4.5lb target. May have to upgrade from a 70FS to a 90 FS. oh darn another engine....
