Micro Heli Becomes Kiowa Warrior - 2007/02/18 18:32 I'm going to share some information here about adding a scale heli body to a Micro Helicopter. If you are interested in haveing one completed and mounted for your heli, let me know, I'll do it for no charge,... well, you have to buy the parts and paint, but I'll build it and detail it for you if you are interested.

Bodies are available in various styles, for the Blade CP, Honeybee CP or FP, T-Rex, and more. Send me an email if you are interested.

This thread will document the addition of a Kiowa Warrior Military scheme added to a Honeybee CP2.

Here's the stripped down Honeybee and the newly arrived body.

Re:Micro Heli Becomes Kiowa Warrior - 2007/02/19 18:52 Here's the beginning of the body assembly. The tail segements are started first after trimming all molding flashing. Carefully test fit the parts and tehn glue with the Orange Testors Plastic Model Cement, set aside to cure.

Re:Micro Heli Becomes Kiowa Warrior - 2007/02/19 18:56 The windows take lots of patience, and planning. Be sure to use a fresh X-acto blade frequently, so you can keep making nice clean cuts.

Work along the body from a nice supported section towards the area where less support will remain after the windows are removed. This allows you to keep integrity of the body while you are working with it.

Re:Micro Heli Becomes Kiowa Warrior - 2007/02/19 18:59 IN the previous photo, you can see the location of the seam to remove the front of the fuselage. This location can vary, but I prefer to be able to access 90% of the mechanics for maintenence by only removing the nose. Once the body is finally assembled, you can't really notice this joint if done cleanly.

Now, after washing the fuselage, you are ready to paint. Krylon Fusion paints work well for plastics, but also any train paint or testors spray will work too. The photo shows Krylon Fusion Ultra Flat camo.
