Couldn't figure out how to get a movie upload here to work, so I uploaded the movie to my Gallery, under "Keepers".

Enjoy.

Kev.

Re:Winter 2007 - Electric PBF - Flys Great - 2007/04/03 04:27 This one a winner. It does great in up to ten MPH winds, after that it like trying to control a piece of floating cardboard in the wind.

I noticed the first landing skeg I created was a little too far back, so on landings the plane always nosed over hard. The skeg also only ran about half way back on the fuselage(ha,ha) and the box channel I created for stiffness was bebding just beyond that point.

So I cut out a new skeg with the low point right behind the firewall and it runs the full length of the PBF, 22 inches. Three sheets thick, hot glued together, then hot glued to the bottom of the box channel. In the future, the box channel will be unnecessary, the skeg will provide all the rigidity required.

I have had suggestions to cut off some leading edge and make it a delta wing but I am not ready to cut it up yet. That mod may require a prop change for more speed due to the decrease in wing area.

Electric PBF - Flys Great - Tweaks - 2007/06/11 14:04
Ok,
so I've had some time to fly the electric PBF and I hghly recommend it. I have added three small clothes pins on the wing tips and under the tail for paper streamers. I took the plane to a Cub Scout Jamboree this spring and it was a big hit.

I have modified the bottom skeg slightly again. I got rid of the original folded U-Channel stiffener and just directly hot glued the skeg to the bottom profile of the plane from nose to tail.

I have along trip coming up overseas so I may try to finish my CADD drawing on the trip.

Attached are some photos of the underside mods and the tiny little streamer clothes pins(found at Micheal's Craft store).
