Winter 2005 - Electric PBF - 2007/02/18 22:19 OK,
so it's cold and windy but it's good building weather.

While the glue was drying on my gaint corsair i decided to start a blue foam Pizza Box Flyer.

22 x 22 with a 3 inch folded over on the leading edge. It's more for stabbility than flight characteristics.
I have pictures but on another computer I will have to update another time.

More soon.

Kev.

Re:Winter 2005 - Electric PBF - 2007/02/20 12:04 Start with a blue foam sheet 26 x 22.

Mark three lines at 3 inch, 3 1/2 and 4 inches from the top.
Flip the foam over and run two pieces of packing tape on the opposite side.
Flip sheet over and use a straight edge and phillips head screwdriver to score the foam so you can fold it.

Have your hot glue gun at the ready.

Cut a strip of foam 1/2 inch wide and over 22 inches long.
Run a thin line of hot glue down a line 7 inches back from the front edge. Place the 1/2 strip on end and hold down for 15 seconds until it's set.
Work the faom at the scores so it will fold back to the 7 inch line.
Run a thin line of hot glue on top to the 1/2 strip, fold the foam back and hold down on the hot glue for 20 seconds.

Re:Winter 2005 - Electric PBF - 2007/02/20 12:20 On the bottom, find the centerline.
draw two lines one inch apart on either side of the centerline.
Cut a strip of foam 2 inches wide and 20 inches long.
Score this strip 1/2 inch in from each edge.
Flip the strip over and run packing tape down the whole strip.
Flip back over and using a metal edge, fold the scored line up so that you can EASILY form the foam into a U channel shape.
Run hot glue down one of the lines on the back of the sheet centerline. PLace the strip on the glue line and hold in place for several minutes.
Hold the U channel up and run antoher glue line down the other side of you mark, the carefully bend the u-channel down into the glue line and hold inplace until cool(the most difficult part.)
