Re:Ziroli Corsair Wing Saddle - 2007/02/02 08:30 I have now aligned and setup the wing saddle for the nylon bolts that will hold on the wing.

I got the saddle close to aligned and then used a 1/8 balsa cap of the right and 1/16 balsa cap on the left to get the wing to be within an 1/8 inch at the outer edges. Perfect alignment is probably impossible since the ailgnment tools and measuring methods are not that precise. I am comfortable with this tolerance across a 97 inch gull wing.

Pictures of saddle capping attached.

Re:Ziroli Corsair Elevator Servo - 2007/02/02 12:46 I have decided to install the elevator servo in the tail of the plane. I do not think it will upset the balance point too much but we will see. Because I do not have retracts my weight will be lighter than a full scale setup.

I am creating two tail access areas. One for access to the ruder post and elevator servo and the other to access the hidden elevator linkage.
Next I have to install the hinges in the Stab and elevator halves and make the metal rod jioner for the elevator halves. I will use a SIG steering control arm on the joiner as the control arm for the elevator. Pictures will be posted for clarity. I bought the motor mounts last night at the hobby store, that will come when I fit the cowl.

Re:Ziroli Corsair Fuse Sheeting - 2007/02/20 21:32
I have completed sheeting the fuselage with 1/8 inch thick sheets, now the sanding begins. I used a combination of strip planking and 6 inch panels(two 3" sheets glued together)The 6 inch sheets were 18 inches long. Any longer than that and they were too difficult to form to the complex curve of the fuse. I will post some photos tomorrow.

Next I will be finishing the sheeting of the bottom of the wing. The wing gets 3/32 inch sheets. The material list with the instructions provides a sheet count to order by. apparently the sheet count provided is for a partialy sheeted wing, not the fully sheeted version I am doing, SO I ran out of planking. Not to worry, Penn Valley had what I needed and I picked up a new Eflite motor and controller while I was in the neighborhood.

Kev.
