Re:2 stroke or 4 - 2006/12/30 16:26 Four Strokes run with lower RPM and more torque permitting you to swing a bigger and/or higher pitch prop. Four strokes are also easier on the fuel consumption than two strokes. You can get increased flying time for the same amount of fuel as compared to a similar sized two stroke. They are also quieter.
I only have one but I like it. A Magnum 91. The more it's runs the better it gets. They do require a little more break in time than a 2 stroke. 90 size and up are the most popular, I have heard of issues with the smaller sizes like 50 and below, but I have no direct experience with them.

When you get into the 1.20 and above sizes for the 2-strokes they can really eat the fuel up quick and at 13 bucks a gallon that can add up. The 4 stroke is probably half the fuel usage at that size.
