Fiberglass - Polyester vs Epoxy Resins - 2007/03/19 04:36
 I have recently purchased two of Dave Platt's finishing DVD's for help with my Ziroli Corsair project.
The first is on fiberglassing and priming,
the second is specifically on Klass Kote Epoxy Paints.
After watching the first DVD this weekend I realized that Dave uses Polyester finishing Resin(by Sig) exclusively and I was thinking of using epoxy resin with my cloth.
I found a very good website on epoxy resin finishing and between the two I THINK I know what I'm going to do.
I have started this thread to document my thoughts and listen to any constructive thoughts from others.
I will be using Epoxy resin because I was not particularly impressed with the warning label on the Sig polyester resin as I stood in the hobby shop last week. Bascially the thing that turned me off was the fact that polyester resin can react with epoxy, vinyl filler and a few other things and not cure. Since I have a little of each of these things on my model already, I thought it best to go try out the epoxy resin with some samples.
More on this later when I get my camera reconnected to my rebuilt PC this week.
