Servos Digital or STD - 2007/01/31 21:06 I am looking for some advice/guidance about servos. My new DX7 is on the way & has 4 servos. My stick needs 7 and all the other new planes need at least 5 or 6.

Since price is a major consideration, and should I go digital or STD & can I mix the 2. I would think for the throttle I could use a STD cheapy if I can mix the two types.

That leads me to a bigger question. Torque! My in bound servos have @ 72 oz torque. Most of the less expensive STD & digitals have up to @ 47 oz of torque. Since I just got the stick, 40 size using a Saito 72, I have heard that I should look at heavier torque for certain controls.

This is where I am looking for the biggest help. I’m not looking to fly super sonic but would like to have some fun & as I improve I look forward to 3D. Do I need digital & do I need the heavier torque and on which control surfaces do I need that?

Next! Should I avoid the off brands? Horizon Hobbies sell Experts servos? Tower Hobbies have a variety to chose from, ECT, ECT. Any to really stay away from or are they kind of similar but for the name?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Rob Sage
